Covered Wagon

Sponsored by:

Capitol Auto Group

Covered wagons are an enduring symbol of pioneer spirit, the gutsy drive that helped early settlers find their way westward along the Oregon trail.

When Salem's Riverfront Carousel design committee considered creating "chariots", they chose to follow a very Western theme with their pioneering project. Instead of sitting in swans or sleighs, the traditional bench seating on many carousels, visitors can catch a comfortable ride in two Western symbols - a covered wagon or chuck wagon.

Scott Casebeer, owner of Capitol Chevrolet, and his family thought adopting the carousel's covered wagon was a logical choice, recognition of the fact that like early wagon-makers, their company is also committed to the business of transporting families.
